Dental Implant FAQs

How does the treatment planning procedure work?

Dr. Raj Upadya or Dr. Andrii Slobodian will begin with a thorough exam to evaluate your oral health. Once you are determined to be a successful candidate for dental implants, your dentist will begin to build your treatment plan. We use top-of-the-line dental technology for highly accurate and careful planning.

Your dentist will outline the process, cost, and timeline so you fully understand your commitment and benefits of dental implants. After that, we will schedule your surgery for the implant(s). Once that heals, your permanent will be secured.

How quickly can I get a replacement tooth?

After your thorough dental exam, Dr. Slobodian or Dr. Upadya will help determine your best missing tooth treatment option. Metropolitan Center for Complete Dentistry offers a single dental implant for one missing tooth and multiple dental implants for more than one missing tooth.

After surgery, the dental implant typically requires 3 to 6 months to fully integrate with the jaw bone before we can secure the permanent restoration. Our Dentists may be able to provide a temporary crown while the implant heals.

Am I a candidate for dental implants?

Each patient starts treatment with a comprehensive evaluation from Dr. Raj Upadya or Dr. Andrii Slobodian. The dentist will inspect your teeth, gums, and mouth and determine if you qualify for dental implants. You must have adequate bone structure to secure the implant in place. You should also be healthy overall. Most patients will qualify for dental implants. If you have suffered bone loss, Dr. Slobodian may recommend bone grafting to ensure the success of your dental implant.

Will I have to see a specialist?

No! Dr. Slobodian provides inclusive dental implant services all under our roof. Dr. Slobodian will monitor your procedure every step of the way to ensure quality and cohesive care. Our dental care team will handle your insurance, consultation, surgery, recovery, and the bonding of the final restoration.

Does my insurance cover dental implants?

Each patient’s dental insurance is unique; coverage will vary depending on the plan. Our patients need to know that treatment coverage varies between dental insurance providers. Metropolitan Center for Complete Dentistry, an East Hanover NJ dentist office, will work with most dental insurance companies as a non-participating provider.

As a service to you, our staff will happily submit a pre-treatment estimate to your insurance company so that you will know what your benefits will cover. Not many dental insurance plans will cover dental implants. Some insurance plans will partially cover the dental fabrication, such as the dental crown or the denture. We also offer financing through CareCredit, where you can receive interest-free payment plans to help you spread out the cost of dental implants.

Do dental implants require special care?

Dental implants require no more maintenance or care than your natural teeth. Like natural teeth, implants depend on healthy gums and surrounding tooth structures for support. You must brush and floss regularly and visit Dr. Upadya or Dr. Slobodian at least twice yearly for dental cleanings at their East Hanover, NJ dentist office. Regular and diligent oral hygiene should keep your dental implant healthy for a lifetime of smiles.

How much pain will I feel after the dental implant procedure?

There is generally little to no discomfort following the dental implant surgery. The Metropolitan Center for Complete Dentistry office staff will call in any necessary prescriptions in advance to prevent swelling and discomfort.

How long does a dental implant last?

If cared for properly, a dental implant can last a lifetime. It’s important to visit Dr. Upadya or Dr. Slobodian twice yearly for a routine dental health exam. Also, if you have any issues with your dental implant, you should call for an appointment to have it looked at.
