If you invest in a beautiful smile, shouldn’t the rest of your face looks just as good? East Hanover dentist Dr. Raj Upadya is pleased to announce two new services: Botox® Cosmetic and dermal fillers Restylane and Juvederm. He is certified to offer Botox treatments in East Hanover, NJ for cosmetic purposes, headache, and trigger point therapy.
We believe this is just one more way that we can help our patients look and feel their best. In addition to our cosmetic dental services, we provide Botox® and dermal fillers to new and existing patients.
What is Botox®?
Botox® is an FDA-approved cosmetic treatment for patients with moderate to severe facial lines. Botox® Cosmetic is a leading treatment for expression lines on the forehead, around the eyes, on the nose, and between the eyebrows. The active ingredient in Botox® is a neurotoxin called botulinum toxin type A.
We inject small amounts into specific areas. It works by blocking the nerve impulses that weaken the muscles that cause wrinkles. Botox also prevents new lines from forming.
What are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are a cosmetic treatment that adds volume to the skin and reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. They use hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in the body.
When injected into the skin, dermal fillers plump up the area, to give it a more smooth and youthful appearance. This can help to restore lost volume in areas such as the cheeks and lips. Fillers can also fill in deep lines and wrinkles. Dermal fillers are a popular and non-invasive way to get a more youthful look without surgery.
Botox From the Dentist?
Seeing your dentist for Botox and dermal fillers may seem unconventional, but it is a surprisingly great choice. Just like a skilled facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Upadya understands the nuances of delicate facial anatomy. He is highly experienced in making skillful injections to the face that are both comfortable and designed to produce natural-looking results.
Dr. Raj Upadya is among the first dentists in the East Hanover area to be credentialed by the New Jersey Board of Dentistry to administer Botox and dermal filler injections. As part of the credentialing process, Dr. Upadya completed a Board-approved training course to learn how to safely and effectively treat our patients.
Botox injections can typically be completed in one visit to our East Hanover, NJ, dental office. On average, Botox lasts up to 6 months or more. The effects of Botox are noticeable immediately after treatment.
At your next appointment, let us know if you are interested in Botox or dermal fillers. We offer complimentary consultations for Botox and dermal fillers. You will meet with Dr. Upadya, who will evaluate your facial condition and recommend the best treatment for you.
In some cases, we may be able to perform treatment on the same visit or schedule a separate appointment at a convenient time.
Botox for Treating Headaches and TMJ
Dr. Upadya is certified to administer Botox injections to relieve chronic headaches and facial/TMJ pain. Because Botox can relax the targeted muscle area, it can treat symptoms associated with TMJ.
Frequent headaches, teeth grinding, facial pain, and sore jaw muscles are often the result of tension in the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). Botox injections can temporarily relieve these symptoms.
As a dentist, Dr. Upadya understands the muscular structure of the jaw and how it relates to the bite. This in-depth knowledge enables him to offer this treatment to relieve patients who have exhausted traditional options or need time to explore. When injected into the jaw muscles, Botox blocks the nerve signals that tell the muscles to tighten.
Botox® and Fillers: What to Expect
Dr. Upadya offers Botox Cosmetic and the dermal fillers Restylane and Juvederm. After an initial consultation, Dr. Upadya will recommend the best suited to your cosmetic goals or health needs. He will find the right areas of the face for your injections.
To begin treatment, Dr. Upadya will clean the treated area. Then, he will apply a mild topical numbing agent to ensure your comfort. The injections are quick and relatively painless.
After treatment, you can immediately return to your normal routine. You may only experience mild redness or sensitivity at the injection site for a few hours.
Botox has been FDA-approved for over 20 years to temporarily treat wrinkles. This treatment relaxes the muscles around the eyes and the forehead that cause deep expression lines. Botox offers a great way to renew your appearance. It can reduce wrinkles and fill in the hollow, sunken facial skin, often common signs of aging.
Results will continue to appear over the next week or two. Most injectable treatments provide results that last anywhere from 3 to 12 months and, in some cases, longer. You can maintain results with convenient follow-up treatments. We can help you schedule injections during twice-yearly preventive visits.
