Types of Dental Implants
There are a variety of dental implants that can be used individually or in groups to replace one tooth, multiple teeth, or a full arch (jaw) of teeth. Depending on your needs and your oral health, we will recommend the appropriate option for the best result.
Standard Dental Implant: Traditionally made from titanium, the implant looks like a threaded post or screw. It is placed into the jawbone and acts as an anchor for whatever your final restoration will be, such as a single crown, a bridge, a denture, or hybrid teeth such as an All-On-Four.
Mini Implants: Also a threaded post, the mini-implant is placed into your jawbone in the same manner as a standard implant. The difference is that is much thinner and the surgery can be much less involved. The mini-implant was traditionally used to help secure dentures but it has evolved into other applications. A consultation and or examination is definitely a requirement to determine if mini implants are right for you.
All-On-Four or Hybrid Implants: This is a technique utilizing 4 to 6 standard implants to secure a full arch (jaw) of teeth in a person’s mouth. If you are missing all of your teeth in the top jaw or bottom jaw, or know that you need to have most or all of these teeth removed, this option might be a perfect solution for you.
